Dr. Ryan Leal is a board certified specialist in Canine and Feline Veterinary Practice.
Prior to moving into the veterinary field, Dr. Leal obtained his Juris Doctor degree in Chicago and is a member of the state bar associations of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
He is a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a rotating internship in Denver, a surgical internship in Seattle, and an orthopedic research internship at Colorado State University before finally landing in Richmond at Wellesley Animal Hospital. He has since completed advanced training in ultrasound and become a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Canine and Feline Specialty Practice. ABVP is an AVMA recognized veterinary specialty organization for certification of its 11 Recognized Veterinary Specialties. He is one of only 500 veterinarians world-wide to hold this title. Dr. Leal's professional interests include surgery, ultrasound, and analgesia. Dr. Leal is excited to work with members of his community to develop the best and most realistic treatment plans to benefit both patient and owner. When not working, you can find him hiking, camping, reading science fiction, and exploring his hometown. He lives with his partner and their orange tabby cat, RJ.
